Lulu Belle Jones, 77, of Pickens, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Suncrest.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Birten and Josephine Byrd Tharp; husband, Herbert W. Jones; son, Jesse L. Jones; and brothers, Howard Tharp and Esker Tharp.
Lulu is survived by two daughters, Lois (Josh) Small of Beverly and Christine Belle (Don) Crider of Missouri; three sons, Shawn Jones of Pickens, Lyndon (Carry) Jones of Hacker Valley and Owen (BJ) Jones of Pickens; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a soon-to-be-born great-granddaughter; six sisters, Alice Butko of Pennsylvania, Violet Butcher of Alum Bridge, Lenore Adams of North Carolina, Rose Qwyn of North Carolina, Peggy Bennett of French Creek and Opal Tharp of French Creek; four brothers, William Tharp of Pennslyvania, Burton Tharp Jr. of Pickens, Wally Tharp of French Creek and John Tharp of Elkins.
She was a homemaker and attended the Pickens Baptist Church. Lulu enjoyed quilting, tending to her flower gardens and riding her 4-wheeler; she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary at Pickens and loved having family get togethers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, with Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery.
