William Weinberger

William Paul Weinberger, 90 of Weston, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Genesis Health Center of Glenville, following an extended illness.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Green Weinberger; his parents, Gottfried, and Amalia Wenek Weinberger; and siblings, Elfrieda, Hilda, Lily and Siegfried.

He is survived by his twin sister, Wilma Pauline; son, Anthony Paul Weinberger of Tolleson, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Anita Love Karasek of El Cajon, San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Nicole Alana Karasek; several nieces; and a very special grand-nephew and wife Peter Lee and Connie Avery. Paul was a devout member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and graduate of St. Patrick School. Following World War II, Paul joined his father at the Weinberger mould shop making moulds for the glass industry, both locally and throughout the United States. He was an active businessman in Weston, participating in the chamber of commerce and was a past president of the Lions Club. Following his retirement, Paul looked to his skills as a craftsman and master wood turner. He won multiple awards statewide for his beautiful segmented wood bowls and vases. He also continued to champion the glass industry and especially the West Virginia Museum of American Glass located in Weston.

Paul and his wife, Grace, were very active lifelong members of the Weston community, both were part of the City's Flower Town USA designation, starting the original planter boxes that lined Main Street and were an integral part of bringing the dancing snowflakes to Weston. They were active in any community project that would beautify their hometown of Weston.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Ave. in Weston Friday, Jan. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick Church with the Rev. J. Steve Valelonga officiating. Interment will be in Weston Masonic Cemetery.
