Davis & Elkins’ Lykes scores 1,000th career point

Davis & Elkins College's Jorden Lykes recently reached 1,000 points for her career.

Lykes, a senior forward from Prince George, Va., hit the milestone is a loss to Marshall on New Year's Eve.

She's currently averaging 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds for the Senators, who will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday.

Lykes was honored Saturday during a game against Salem International at the McDonnell Center.

D&E and the Panthers are the lone unbeaten teams in G-MAC play.

ON A RUN:?One of the hottest teams in the G-MAC is the Alderson Broaddus University men.

After a 2-4 start, the Battlers (8-4, 2-0 G-MAC) have won six straight games.

Malcolm Tatum and Adam Kline have led AB in scoring during the run. Tatum is averaging 16 points and Kline is tallying 13.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per outing.

AB will return to action at 9 p.m. Thursday at Trevecca Nazarene.

KEY STRETCH: West Virginia Wesleyan is entering an important stretch in Mountain East Conference action.

After dropping an 82-64 decision to West Virginia State on Monday, the Bobcats (8-6, 3-3 MEC) will look to rebound Thursday at Notre Dame, Ohio, for another league game.

Top-ranked and unbeaten West Liberty will then visit Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Hilltoppers have spent the last five weeks as the nation's No. 1 Division II team and have been ranked in the top five since Jan. 10, 2012.
