PHILIPPI - Even the frigid weather temperatures couldn't cool off the Alderson Broaddus men's basketball team on Tuesday night.
In winning their 11th straight game, the Battlers overcame an early deficit and held off a late Davis & Elkins charge to claim a 66-61 G-MAC victory in front a packed house at Rex Pyles Arena.
AB (13-4, 7-0 G-MAC) led 29-28 at the intermission before starting the second half on a 12-2 run, capped by Richard Lemon's trey that made it 41-30 with 16:39 left in regulation.

But the Senators kept chipping away, as four straight points from Aleksandar Vasiljevic with just under 6 minutes left, cut the margin to 52-49.
The Battlers pushed the lead back out to seven (58-51) on Lemon's jumper and appeared to be in control with 1:25 remaining after Thylas Perkins drilled a 3-pointer to make it 61-55.
After Brian Dixon answered with a trey for D&E, AB put the game out of reach on four straight free throws from Malcolm Tatum, and another by Adam Cline that stretched the lead to 66-59 with 14 seconds left.
Lemon took game-high scoring honors for the Battlers with 17 points.
He also grabbed 10 rebounds. Tatum followed with 14 points and Adam Kline knocked down nine points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Tatum also had five assists.
Devin Miller and Kevin Bracy-Davis each had 13 points for the Senators (9-9, 2-5). Miller also had seven rebounds and four steals.
D&E jumped out a 13-6 lead just 7 minutes into the game before the hosts rallied to go in front at halftime.
The Senators will return to action at 4 p.m. Saturday at home against West Virginia Tech, while AB will travel to Bluefield State on the same day. Both games are non-conference affairs.

PHILIPPI - Jorden Lykes scored 24 points to propel Davis & Elkins to a victory over G-MAC rival Alderson Broaddus.
Lykes was perfect from the field (7-of-7) and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. Stephanie Wooten added 15 points, while Sharmaine Baker chipped in with 11 points.
Sydney Shaffer tallied 12 points and Rachel Ashley added 10 points to reach double figures for the Battlers.
The Senators shot a season-best 50 percent from the field (25-of-50), including 7-of-16 from three, and held a 39-30 advantage on the glass.
Wooten buried a trio of treys to open up a 36-9 lead in the first half.
D&E held a 48-30 lead at the break.
The Senators (8-11, 6-2 G-MAC) will travel to Edinboro at 7 p.m. Thursday.
AB will entertain Ursuline at 6 p.m. on the same evening for another G-MAC contest.
