While the action on the court has been slowed by the weather, area teams continue to climb in the polls.
Both Tucker County teams, along with the Petersburg boys and Tygarts Valley and Pocahontas County girls, are ranked in the top 10 in this week's AP high school basketball polls released Monday.
The Mountain Lions, despite playing just once since Jan. 17, moved up one spot to sixth in Class A. Tucker County has a busy week ahead, if the weather cooperates, traveling to East Hardy on Wednesday before returning home to battle Southern, Md., Friday and Pendleton County on Saturday.

The Elkins High School boys will play key games against sectional foes Lewis County and Buckhannon-Upshur this week.
The Vikings (10-2) have won eight straight games to go from unranked to eighth in Class AA. Petersburg will entertain Keyser on Wednesday and visit Moorefield for a Friday night contest.
The Tucker County girls, whose game at No. 6 Pocahontas County on Monday night was postponed until Feb. 10, jumped from seventh to sixth. The Mountain?Lions defeated the Warriors last week, which moved Pocahontas County down two spots to sixth.
Tygarts Valley is 10th this week and is scheduled to host Tucker County at 7:30 p.m. today.
SECTIONALS?LOOM: With postseason play looming, games against sectional foes will fill teams' schedules over the next few weeks.
Weather postponements have forced some schools to scrap non-conference games and concentrate solely on sectional and conference matchups.
The Elkins boys, for instance, will play sectional rivals Lewis County and Buckhannon-Upshur this week alone.
The Tigers are scheduled to play three more contests against sectional opponents over the final three weeks of the regular season.
Girls' sectionals will begin on Feb. 24, followed by the boys on March 3.
