PARSONS - Tucker County Board of Education members shared their satisfaction with Superintendent Dr. Eddie Campbell's performance during their regular meeting this week.
"Dr. Campbell has well satisfied the Tucker County Board of Education," President Jared Parsons said at Monday's meeting. "He meets or exceeds the standards set out in the Superintendent's Performance Evaluation policy in all areas."
The details of Campbell's contract will be discussed and voted upon at the next Tucker County BOE meeting, slated for 4:30 p.m. March 4.
Campbell, who took over his position in June 2011, said he believes there is mutual interest between himself and the board to continue his contract.
"It is just a matter of working out the details," Campbell said. "On March 4, the board will have the opportunity to look at the contract terms and determine if they want to offer an extension."
Campbell said he and his family enjoy living in Tucker County.
"I am pleased with the board's evaluation results," Campbell said. "I feel they were positive. It felt good to know they feel I am doing a good job."
He said he felt the county had made great progress in the past three years in the schools.
"I would like to continue with the district and move the initiatives we have started forward," Campbell said. "I think it is important to maintain consistency.
"I think the board members and I both felt good about the accomplishments, and there is a mutual desire to look at continuing our work together, if we can come to some type of agreement," Campbell said.
Also during Monday's meeting, board members listened to input on the upcoming school calendar.
This was the second public hearing that allowed teachers, service personnel, parents, students and concerned residents to share their views on the 2014 to 2015 school calendar. A survey is available online at www.tuckercountyschools.com.
The next Tucker County Board of Education meeting is slated for 4:30 p.m. March 4 at the Central Office.
