The Randolph Farm Bureau held its second coyote contest from October 2012 to July 1, 2013.

From 2010 to 2011, it is estimated that farmers in Randolph County lost approximately $44,500 in livestock due to the coyote population. During the contest there were a total of 92 coyotes checked in.

The prize drawing was held during the Randolph County Farm Bureau's August meeting at Camp Pioneer. The first place winner of $500 with 37 coyotes was Scott Campbell of Beverly. The second place winner of $250 with 25 coyotes was K. Lynn Day of Montrose, and the third place winner of $100 with 13 coyotes was Brad Sacks of Mill Creek.

There was also a $50 gift card prize drawing for other contestants, including Partick Broschart, Alex Nelson, Richard Rosencrance and Jonathan Wratchford.

Officials would like to thank their co-sponsor, the Randolph County Commission, for donating $2,000 to help with the coyote contest, which was matched by the Randolph County Farm

Bureau.

They would also like to thank the following local businesses for agreeing to be check-in stations: Middle Mountain Archery in Elkins, Liggett's Supply in Mill Creek, See's Market in Valley Head, Mid-Way Motors in Harman, Trickett's Hardware in Elkins and Beverly Marathon in

Beverly.

The 2013-2014 Randolph County Farm Bureau Coyote Contest began Oct. 1, 2013, and will run though June 30.

The mid-season drawing of $500 will be held at the March 2014 meeting.
