Mr. John Edward Broschart, 72, a resident of Belington, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.
He was born Nov. 3, 1941, at Jimtown, a son of the late Claude N. Broschart and Edna Regester Broschart, who survives at Jimtown.
Also surviving are two brothers, Patrick Broschart and Robert Broschart and wife, Terry, all of Jimtown, brother-in-law, Frank Decker of Cary, N.C.; one sister, Marie Nees of Cloverdale, Ind; and a sister-in-law, Patty Broschart of Jimtown.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, George D. Broschart; two sisters, Edna Jean Decker and Judith Rowan; and a brother-in-law, Gordon Nees.
Mr. Broschart attended the schools of Randolph County and Coalton High School. He was employed as a coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers Union. He loved trading and collecting guns, enjoyed West Virginia University basketball and watching NASCAR racing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church at Jimtown.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, Feb. 23, he will be moved to Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Murphy and the Rev. Leon Hevener will officiate. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery.
