ELKINS - Board members of the Randolph County Community Arts Center invite you to trade in your winter boots for dancing shoes and celebrate with a Mardi Gras Party Friday at the center at 6 p.m.
Molly Propst, co-coordinator for the event, said the fun-filled evening will raise funds to support community arts.
"The event features Cajun-style food, including gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, king cupcakes and beverages," Propst said. "Live entertainment will feature the Cajun sounds of Zig et Zag, featuring Bob Smakula."

Randolph County Community Arts Center board member Molly Propst is co-coordinator of Friday’s Mardi Gras Celebration, a fundraiser that offers Cajun food and entertainment. Tickets are available from any RCCAC board member or at the Arts Center, located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street.
Tickets for the evening are $30 per person and $10 for students, VISTAS and AmeriCorp volunteers.
"Folks have been shut in all winter, and this evening is meant to be a fun time with great food and dancing," Propst said. "Tickets are available at the door, at the Randolph County Community Arts Center or from any Randolph County Community Arts Center board member."
Propst said the Arts Center's dedicated volunteers are also wonderful cooks.
"On Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, folks celebrate Mardi Gras," Propst said. "They indulge before Lent and the season of fasting and abstinence begins. Most people cannot travel to New Orleans for the real Mardi Gras celebration, so we invite folks to celebrate with us, and raise money for a great cause."
