March will be Food for Fines Month at the Upshur County Public Library in Tennerton.
Non-perishable food will be accepted as payment for outstanding fines on returned library materials at the rate of $1 for each nonperishable item donated. Ramen Noodles and other instant noodle products will not be accepted, as these items are not always usable at food banks.
Donated items must have current expiration dates. No dented or rusty cans will be accepted. All collected items will be donated to local food banks.
Food for Fines will start Saturday and end on March 31. For more information call the library at 304-473-4219 extension 2 during library business hours; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. All donations will be welcome even if fines are not owed.
