Eileen Price, 91, a resident of East Dailey, passed from this life into the arms of our heavenly Father Monday evening, March 3, 2014, in Davis Medical Center.
She was born April 23, 1922, at Parsons, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Glenn Rex and Evelyn Stokes Collett formerly of Dailey.
The family moved from Tucker County to Dailey around 1933 where Eileen grew up and attended the one-room back road school in Dailey.
On Jan. 18, 1938, in Elkins, Eileen was united in marriage to Cyril J. "Gabby" Price Sr. They were married for 55 years raising three children.
She is also preceded in death by her three children, Mary Katherine Hamrick, Ronald Lee Price and Cyril J. "Jim" Price Jr.
She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Carolyn Sue Price of Baltimore, Md., and Kathy Price of Dailey; two sisters, Dolores Kerns of Columbia, S.C., and Janet Swecker of East Dailey; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Price of Baltimore, Md., Julia Price Carnahan of Ft. Collins, Colo, and C. J. Price III and Bill Hamrick, both of Dailey; and four stepgrandchildren, Lisa Lopez of Dailey, Tommy Lopez of Elkins, Ashley Urso of Pennsylvania and Jessica Campione of Webster Springs. Several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Michael Eugene Price; and three brothers, Glenn Rex Collett Jr., Ray Stokes Collett and Philip T. Collett.
Eileen was loved and admired for her dedication to work and all the people she came in contact with as a people greeter at the Elkins Walmart store where she had worked for 23 years. She was the oldest age-wise employee who always had a big smile for everyone when she said the "Welcome to Walmart" greeting and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She became sick and unable to get around very well and had to take a leave on Jan. 15, 2014. She never completely gave up the idea that she would get to go back to work. Look around while you shop, you just might feel that she is watching you. She had previously worked many years at Bata Shoe Co. on the prepping of shoe uppers, Reidboard Factory, G.C. Murphy and for Miller's Restaurant in Dailey. She had been a member of Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star, Tygart Valley Volunteer Fireman Ladies Auxiliary of Dailey and Valley Bend Presbyterian Ladies Club of East Dailey. Eileen was always a devoted wife and mother to her family. She loved camping with family and friends at Lower Glady and also at their camp on Files Creek. She was a wonderful cook who loved making fried chicken, hot bread and homemade cakes which was loved by all. We miss you sis, and I wish I could have made everything here on earth a little easier and better for you. But you have got it all now because Heaven is a better place.
