Mr. Curtis L. Corley, 67, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center.
He was born Dec. 3, 1946, at Elkins, a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Spangler Corley.
On Nov. 2, 1968, at Oakland, Md, he was married to Patricia Ann Phillips Corley, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Steven B. Corley and wife, Valerie, of Jane Lew; and one daughter, Christie L. Shoemaker and husband, Chad, of Elkins. One brother, Harvey L. "Sam" Corley of Elkins; and two granddaughters, Sara and Sophie Shoemaker of Elkins also survive.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Virl and Keith Corley; and one sister, Betty J. Bresnick.
Curtis was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps having served during Vietnam and was retired from Randolph County Technical Center where he was a building construction teacher. He earned a Bachelor of Science in vocational-technical education from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1998. He was a mason and carpenter by trade. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkins, the church choir, VICA Club and West Virginia Real Estate Commission.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, from First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown. Full military honors will be presented at the gravesite by members of Leland D. Crawford Detachment 956 Marine Corps League, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
