ELKINS - Elkins won its sixth straight game by sweep East Hardy Saturday in prep softball action at Elkins Middle School.
The Tigers (6-1) received two strong pitching performances in winning the opener 2-1 and the second game, 7-1.
Kori Evans earned the win in lidlifter, allowing seven hits and fanning seven.
Amy Fincham and Madison Collett recorded RBIs, while Larel Teter scored the game-winning run in the fifth after tripling and scoring on Fincham's single.
Alyssa Harper twirled a six-hitter in the nightcap, striking out four and not walking a batter.
Taylor Pingley went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI for the Tigers, while Haley Collett and Madison Collett both were 2 for 4 for the winners, who scored all of their runs in the fourth
"We played two solid games against a very good East Hardy team," first-year Elkins coach Ashley Cameron said. "Game one was fundamentally sound for both teams and neither of us could get anything going offensively. Game two was close until we were able to break it open in the fourth inning.
"The girls are doing a nice job and it is paying off for them. We are on a nice little winning streak right now and I would like us to keep the momentum going into next week and beyond."
Elkins will host Preston at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
