The conductor of the Buckhannon Chamber Orchestra, Patience Brock, recently announced the program for the group's spring concert.
As a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first appearance of the Beatles in the United States, the concert will include "Yesterday" and "Michelle" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Also on the program will be "Water Music" by Handel, "Fantasia on the Water is Wide" by Mark Barnard and works by Dvorak, Vivaldi and Feese.
Buckhannon-Upshur High School strings teacher Charity Manspeaker on violin and West Virginia Wesleyan College student Eric Harshbarger on harp will be the featured soloists for this performance, which will take place at 3 p.m. May 4 in Wesley Chapel on the campus of WVWC.
The orchestra is one of the umbrella groups supported by the Upshur Arts Alliance. The public is welcome and invited to attend our concerts. There is no admission charge, but free-will donations to the orchestra will be accepted.
