Joel Maddy, right, of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection explains some of the functions of the instrumentation lab to Davis & Elkins College students, from left, Sydney Mucha, a senior from Mt. Clare; Rebecca Casto, a senior from Fayetteville; Nick Millett, a senior from Buckhannon; and Casey Bannon, a junior from Hedgesville. The visit was part of a recent trip to Charleston for students in Russ McClain’s Atmospheric Resources class. The students toured the NOAA National Weather Service office to discuss meteorology and technology, and learned about air quality monitoring technology and practices at the DEP. McClain is the director of the Davis & Elkins College Center for Sustainability Studies.
