The Parsons Outpost of the Tucker County Senior Citizens will host their May meeting and covered dish lunch on Tuesday.
Officials invite you to bring your covered dish to compliment the lunch and enjoy the program that begins as 10:30 a.m. and enjoy a beautiful spring morning with your friends at the senior center.
The Parsons Senior Center will be hosting a Help Yourself Self-Management Course for people who live with chronic illness, or if you are affiliated with such a person. This is a fun and easy way to help you learn what you can do to feel better and deal with the frustrations and discomforts of living with chronic illness.
The course will be held on six Fridays, May 16 - June 20 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. By attending the course you will learn disease related problem solving, how to manage emotions, how to begin an exercise program, skills to manage symptoms (relaxation, distraction, self-talk, visualization), communication skills, how to improve your patient/physician partnership, use of community resources, what it means to eat well and how to manage medications.
If you think that you or someone you know may be interested in such a course, please call the 304-478-2423. Officials will continue to provide information as plans are completed.
The center invites you to take advantage of this valuable resource.
Also, The Tucker County Senior Citizen Senior Olympic Team is continuing with plans to travel to Potomac State College for the June 3 - 6 event and once again bring back recognition for Tucker County. If you enjoy track events, horseshoes, shooting a basketball, bowling, baking, crafts, billiards, Scrabble, poker, archery or any of the other many events held at the Olympics and would like to be a member of our team, please call or stop by the senior center to pick up a packet of information. The center is sure that you will enjoy the fun and fellowship.
