A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Pauline Lola Haymond Slaughter, 87, departed this life for her heavenly home Sunday, May 25, 2014, after an extended illness.
She was born June 16, 1926, in Newlin, to Creed and Setta Bragg Haymond.
Pauline was married to Joey Dale Slaughter for more than 50 years.
She is survived by son, Bill Slaughter (Roxanna) of Graham, N.C.; daughter, Vickie Johnson (Tom) of Burlington, N.C.; sisters, Lula Mae Powers-Ware and Kathleen Rice (Ralph) of Buckhannon and Rosie Hart of Appomattox, Va.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bill and Jason Slaughter of Buckhannon, Joey (Julie) Slaughter of Louisville, Ky., Greg Johnson (Cathy), Yvonne Underwood (Jamey) and Monica Davis (Boyce) of Graham, N.C.; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by sisters, Iris Lee, JoAnn Marsh and Norma Jean Nicholson; and brother, Junior Haymond.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
