Pedestrian killed by train

BUCKHANNON Police responded to an accident involving a train shortly after 8 a.m. today, officials said.

According to a press release from the Buckhannon Police Department, Chief Matthew Gregory reports that officers responded to an accident involving a CSX train and an individual on the tracks near Wood Street.

The individual was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived. The name of the individual is not being released pending family notification.

Upshur County EMS, Buckhannon Fire Department and West Virginia State Police also assisted at the scene.

The Buckhannon Police Department is investigating the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
