Brights win annual MSFF Bass Fishing Classic
ELKINS — A longtime, dedicated competitor won the 2016 Mountain State Forest Festival Bass Fishing Classic on Sept. 17.
The team of Harry and Dion Bright won the competition, and also took the lunker prize, for biggest bass caught during the event.
Harry Bright also won the MSSF Bass Fishing Classic last year, after coming in second five times.
“The fishing was great,” Harry Bright said. “I love this competition!”
A long row of vehicles with boats trailing behind lined up in the dark at 6 a.m. for the competition’s boat launch at the Scott Ford Road dock in Elkins.
A total of 14 boats competed in the Bass Fishing Classic, with eight teams bringing in their catches for the official weigh-in at the Downtown Stage in the Elkins Town Square.
Second place was taken by Jason and Cheryl Zirkle, while third place went to Tai and Lukas Letan. Fourth place was taken by Kenny and Jerrod Krepps.
The Mountain State Forest Festival officials in charge of the event were John Morgan, Todd Riggleman and Hoy Ferguson.
