D&E, Wesleyan men both fall in road tilts
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Pitt-Johnstown buried 70 percent of its shots in the second half en route to a 76-67 victory over Davis & Elkins Thursday night in WVC play.
The Mountain Cats were paced by Nick Novak’s game-high 23 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field. Jordan Miller contributed 21, including 15 from downtown. Andrew Cressler chipped in 12. Noah Hartung snared eight rebounds while Novak dished out five assists.
Devin Miller guided the Senators (3-10, 2-8 WVC) with a team-high 19 points. He also distributed a game-best seven assists while notching three steals. Igor Premasunac added 11 markers. Josh Wamsley tallied nine points and nine boards while Shane Brown had five steals.
UPJ connected on 55.6 percent of its attempts from the floor for the game, including a nine-of-18 effort from behind the 3-point line. D&E netted 35.8 percent of its shots from the floor.
D&E will travel to Urbana (Ohio) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Ohio Valley 83, Wesleyan 82 (OT)
VIENNA, – Ashton Brown made three free throws with nine seconds remaining to help Ohio Valley upend West Virginia Wesleyan 83-82 in overtime Thursday in WVC play.
Brown poured in 39 points for the victors. He also dished out nine assists and had two steals. Povilas Dambrauskas added 11 points.
T.J. Thompson registered a team-high 29 points for Wesleyan (8-6, 5-5 WVC), including 18 from the 3-point line.
He also snagged seven boards. Soren Dossing came off the bench to hit for 26 points.
Wesleyan will entertain Wheeling Jesuit at 4 p.m. Saturday for another league game.
