Elkins too much for Lewis; TVMS split pair

Brianna Swecker had a career high 28 points and connected on four three pointers to lead Elkins past Lewis County 64-42 Monday in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

“Brianna had a big game for us tonight,” Elkins coach Nancy Lewis said. “She had the hot hand tonight and they kept on feeding her the ball.”

Logan Dudley followed with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Tigers (2-3), who led 32-19 at halftime and 48-29 after three quarters of play.

Cameron Hamrick had 14 points, while Braley Bovie added 11 points for Lewis County.

“This was a good win tonight since they were in our sectional,” Lewis said. “Hopefully we can continue this on Wednesday.”

Elkins won the junior varsity contest 43-19.

Meghan Dolly added eight points and Madison Collett added seven points for the Lady Tigers.

Lewis County (0-7)?hosts Liberty Harrison on Jan. 2.

The Lady Tigers entertain Lincoln on Wednesday.

Pendleton County 49

PETERSBURG?- Tara George had a game-high 20 points to lead Moorefield past Pendleton?County 50-49 Monday in the championship game of the Petersburg Holiday Tournament.

Beth Cook added 10 points, while Taylor Zuber chipped in with eight points for the Lady Yellow Jackets (3-4), who led 18-14 at halftime.

Hillary Ord had 14 points and Nicole Hedrick added 13 points to lead the Lady Wildcats.

Pendleton County visits Union on Thursday for a Potomac Valley Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.

Moorefield travels to Union tonight for another conference tilt at 7:30 p.m.
