Tygarts Valley boys ground Hawks

LOST CREEK – Tygarts Valley placed three players in double figures to roll past South Harrison 74-57 Thursday in non-conference action.

Brandon Pritt had 23 points, three steals and three assists, while Brett Griffith added 20 points for the Bulldogs (5-0), who led 35-22 at halftime and 53-39 after three quarters of play.

Adam Cassell added 17 points, seven assists and three steals for Tygarts Valley.

Dylan Smith had 15 points, while Logan Kirby followed with 11 points for the Hawks.

Cory Messenger added 10 points.

Tygarts Valley will entertain Pocahontas County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a Potomac Valley Conference tilt.

Girls games

Pocahontas 65, Richwood 28

RICHWOOD – Tristin Day had 14 points to lead Pocahontas County past Richwood 65-28 Thursday in non-conference play.

Heather Snead followed with 11 points, while Melissa Murphy and Bobbie McNabb had nine points each for the Lady Warriors (7-3), who led 24-13 at halftime and 47-19 after three quarters of play.

Olivia Workman and Lorena Rose had eight points each, while Workman had 10 rebounds, 11 steals and eight assists for Pocahontas County.

Brenna Mazzella had 11 points, while Hannah Brown chipped in with 10 points for the Lumberjills.

Pocahontas County will host Tucker County at 7:30 p.m. today for a key Potomac Valley Conference contest.

East Hardy 37, Union 34

BAKER – Marilyn Cassell recorded a double-double to lead East Hardy past Union 37-34 Thursday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Cassell finished with a team-high 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Ruby Fridley added 11 points for the Lady Cougars (2-8).

Tiffany Jones and Montana Kitzmiller had nine points each, while Destiny Mann added eight points for the Lady Tigers.

East Hardy travels to Tucker County on Monday for a PVC matchup at 7:30 p.m.
