MORGANTOWN?- West Virginia will look to earn its first Big 12 Conference win today at Texas.

Game time is slated for 9 p.m. at the Erwin Center and the action will be televised on ESPN2.

The Mountaineers (7-6, 0-1 Big 12) are coming off a disappointing 67-57 home loss to Oklahoma on Saturday, blowing a 14-point lead in the second half.

Freshman guard Terry Henderson fired in a career-high 21 points in the setback.

“We just haven’t shot the ball well,” WVU coach Bob Huggins said. “Terry was shooting the ball pretty well (Saturday) and had some pretty good looks in the second half that didn’t go down.”

Huggins said one of the differences on Saturday was the Sooners’ ability to rebound their missed shots

“When you don’t make shots, you have to find other ways to score,” he said. “We haven’t done a great job on the offensive glass. We need to do a better job of keeping balls alive and finishing around the goal.”

Sophomore point guard Juwan Staten, a transfer from Dayton, leads the Mountaineers in scoring with 11.0 ppg. Junior center Aaric Murray is averaging 10.5 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds.

Henderson is averaging 8.8 points, followed by sophomore guard Gary Browne (8.3) and senior forward Deniz Kilicli (7.5).

The Longhorns (8-6, 0-1), coming off an overtime loss at Baylor on Saturday, are led in scoring by sophomore guard Sheldon McClellan (15.6) and sophomore guard Julien Lewis (11.8).

Freshman point guard Javan Felix is averaging 6.6 assists, while 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Jonathan Holmes is pulling down a team-high 7.6 rebounds.

The teams have not met since Texas defeated the Mountaineers, 74-71, in a NCAA Tournament third-round game in 2006. The Longhorns lead the all-time series, 2-1.
