Battlers too much for D&E
Kurklin Bohanon fired in 39 points, including seven three-pointers, and collected 11 rebounds as Alderson-Broaddus rolled past Davis &?Elkins 90-68 Thursday in West Virginia Conference action.
The Battlers jumped out to an early 20-6 lead on a Bohanon three-pointer with 11:22 left in the first half.
Bohanon finished with 15 points during that run for the Battlers (16-8, 14-6 WVIAC).
The Senators bounced back to cut the deficit to 20-10 on a Devin Miller layup with 10:01 left in the first half.
Ron Miller made a layup for A-B, which started an 15-5 run that gave the Battlers a 35-15 lead with 3:17 left until halftime. The margin was 39-23 at the half.
Richard Lemon added 12 points and pulled down four rebounds, while Stuart Clark and Jonathan Ferguson had eight points each for the winners.
Malcom Tatum followed with six points, while O’Dell Eargle had five points and six rebounds.
“I thought our effort was good tonight,” A-B coach Greg Zimmerman said. “I thought Bohanon really played well offensively.
“Defensively our wing (players) really stepped up and shut down their guard play.”
D’Quan Lynch finished with a team-high 18 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the Senators (8-16, 7-13).
Devin Miller followed with 15 points and pulled down three rebounds, while Josh Wamsley added 10 points for the Senators.
Shane Brown chipped in with eight points and Igor Premasunac followed with seven points and four rebounds.
A-B will visit Glenville State at 4 p.m. Saturday in a league contest with the Pioneers.
D&E will travel to area WVC rival Wesleyan at 4 p.m. on the same day.
