Elkins knocks off Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT – Braden Hammond connected on four treys for 14 points to lead Elkins past Bridgeport 65-54 Friday night in Big 10 Conference action.

Colby Gainer followed with 13 points, while Logan Phillips added 10 points for the Tigers (12-8), who led 38-25 at halftime and 56-36 after three quarters of play.

L.J. Lawrence had 10 points, and Brandon Roth had eight points and pulled down 17 rebounds for Elkins.

Tyler Shreve also had eight points for EHS.

Tyler Sprouse had 18 points, while John Wilfong chipped in with eight for the Indians.

“This was a great win for us,” Elkins coach John Lawson said. “I thought this was the best game we’ve played all season, and I thought defensively we played well, especially Brandon Roth with 17 rebounds.”

Elkins will travel to Philip Barbour at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a Big 10 Conference matchup.

HAMBLETON – Nathaniel Goldstein had 24 points to lead Tucker County past Philip Barbour 58-46 Friday in non-conference action.

Ian Nichols followed with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Tyler Snyder chipped in with 12 points for the Mountain Lions (16-2), who led 36-22 at halftime and 46-39 after three quarters of play.

Antonio Dalton had 14 points, while Chance Price chipped in with 13 points for the Colts (9-9).

Philip Barbour will host Elkins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a Big 10 Conference matchup.

Tucker County will visit Preston at 7:30 p.m. Monday for a non-conference tilt.

Notre Dame 75, Tygarts Valley 52

CLARKSBURG – Cal Cistaro had 19 points to lead Notre Dame past Tygarts Valley 75-52 on Friday.

Drew Ridgeway followed with 14 points for the Irish, who led 34-25 at halftime.

Brett Griffith tallied 15 points, while Brandon Pritt added 12 points for the Bulldogs (15-5).

Tygarts Valley will host Tucker County Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for a Potomac Valley Conference action.

East Hardy 102, Pocahontas 61

BAKER – Tyler Mongold finished with a team-high 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead East Hardy past Pocahontas County 102-61 Friday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Shawn Skovron followed with 17 points, seven rebounds and Korey Foltz added 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds for East Hardy (11-8), who led 47-30 at halftime and 69-42 after three quarters of play.

Cary Robertson fired in 20 points, while Spencer McCoy followed with 11 points for the Warriors.

Pocahontas County will entertain Harman at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

East Hardy will travel to Moorefield at 7:30 p.m. today.
