Shepherd holds off Wesleyan; A-B earns win
BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan’s women made a gallant late comeback Thursday night, but came up short in a 74-68 loss to Shepherd in WVC?action.
The Lady Bobcats trailed 54-37 near the midway point of the second half, but came back with a strong charge.
Shepherd was led by the frontcourt duo of Emily Daniel and Priscilla Moseh, who scored 16 points each. Moseh also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Brittany Maxey led Wesleyan with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Atavia Blake and Danesha Richardson scored 20 and 15 points, respectively, to complement Maxey as the trio accounted for 57 of the 68 Bobcat points.
Shepherd improves to 10-11 overall and 9-8 in the WVIAC.
Wesleyan falls to 7-12 overall and 6-10 in the league, and will travel to Bluefield State at 2 p.m. Saturday for a league game.
A-B 63, Ohio Valley 59
VIENNA – Alderson-Broaddus scored six of the final eight points of the game in earning a 63-59 win at Ohio Valley.
The score was tied at 57 with 1:38 to play, but Cayla Rhodes gave A-B the lead for good on a jumper. She then buried another shot with 53 seconds remaining for a four-point edge.
Rhodes and Hurst shared team-high honors by netting 15 points apiece. Amanda Peoples chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Gibson came off the bench to net 17 points for Ohio Valley.
