Wesleyan too much for Senators

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s tennis team captured a 6-3 victory Monday in West Virginia Conference action at the Ross Tennis Complex on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The Bobcats were led by Joey Izquierdo and Aitor Reparez, who won as doubles. The duo won in three matches and moved their record to 3-2 on the season.

“Davis &?Elkins played with a lot of desire today and really brought their best game,” Wesleyan coach Marc Walters said. “They’ve had some individual success against us in tournaments, and I believe that helped them gain some confidence going into this match.”

“Those two have grown a lot in a short time as a doubles team this year, and it is not lost on the other coaches that are watching them improve each match, They provide a big boost for us today when we needed it the most,” Walters said.

In singles competition, Nathan Savil and Jack Waldon won for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan travels to West Virginia State at noon Wednesday.
