Davis & Elkins sweeps BSC

The Davis & Elkins College softball team swept a pair of games from Bluefield State Wednesday in West?Virginia Conference action at Joni Smith Softball Field.

The Lady Senators (9-8) won the first game 9-1 and took the second game, 8-0.

Alanna Jones notched the win in Game 1, striking out five.

Kayla Whoolery had four hits, while Carissa Dunn added three hits for D&E.

Amber LaBille picked up the win in a complete-game effort for the Lady Senators in the nightcap, striking out 10.

Jenifer Kennon had three hits, including a home run, while Whoolery added three safeties.

“It was a great day,” Davis & Elkins coach Kim Stiles said. “We had solid pitching and the runs to win games.”

D&E will travel to Glenville State Friday for a WVIAC matchup.

Wesleyan Splits Pair

BUCKHANNON – The West?Virginia Wesleyan softball team split a pair of games with Concord University Wednesday in West Virginia Conference action.

The Lady Bobcats lost the first game 4-2 before taking the second game, 3-2, in eight innings.

Kaitlyn Carey took the loss for Wesleyan in nine innings of work in the lidlifter. She gave up four runs on six hits, walked zero and struck out four.

Carleigh Hall had two hits for the Lady Bobcats.

Jacqui Omichinski had an RBI single Wesleyan.

Jacqui Omichinski picked up the win in the second game in eight innings of work.

She gave up two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Rebekah Honce had three hits and three RBIs for the Lady Bobcats.

Wesleyan will travel to Ohio Valley at 5 p.m. Friday for a doubleheader.
