EMS falls to B-UMS, 9-7

The Elkins Middle School girls softball team lost to Buckhannon-Upshur 9-7 Monday night.

Korri Evans took the loss for the Lady Hornets in seven innings of work.

Haley Collett had two hits including a double, while Susan Riggleman had a double for Elkins (7-2).

Sierra Poling, Jarrah Reams and Bailey Young all had hits for the Lady Hornets.

Elkins travels to Doddridge County today at 4:30 p.m.

High School Baseball

East Hardy 8,

Musselman 1

BAKER- Cole Collier pitched seven strong innings to lead East Hardy past Musselman 8-1 Monday in non-conference action.

Collier gave up one run on four hits, walked one and struck out six.

Shawn Skovron had three hits, including a home run, three RBIs and scored three runs for the Cougars (10-6).

Tyler Mongold had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs, while Korey Foltz scored two runs for East Hardy.

Tyler Gross took the loss for Musselman in four innings of work.

Gross gave up four runs on five hits and struck out five for the Applemen.

Pendleton 12,

Shenandoah 1

New Martinsville (Va.) – Luke Yokum had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Pendleton County past Shenandoah Valley Academy 12-1 Monday in non-conference action.

Logan Raines had two hits and an RBI, while Kyle Kretzschmar had two hits for the Wildcats.

Callum McGrath notched the win in four innings of work. He gave up two hits and struck out eight.

Pendleton County hosts Tygarts Valley tonight at 6 p.m. for a Potomac Valley Conference tilt.

Notre Dame 11,

Tygarts Valley 9

MILL?CREEK – Notre Dame defeated Tygarts Valley 11-9 Monday in non-conference action.

Keighan Chewning took the loss for Tygarts Valley in seven innings of work.

Brandon Pritt had two hits and drove in three runs.

Tygarts Valley travels to Pendleton tonight at 6 p.m.

Elkins sweeps

Liberty (Harrison)

CLARKSBURG – The Elkins High School tennis teams swept Liberty (Harrison) Monday in Big 10 Conference action.

The boys team remained undefeated in the conference by winning 7-0.

Jacob Gainer, Jacob Schoonover, Taylor Stump and Ryan Henson won in singles. Gainer-Schoonover, Henson-Linkoln Barger and Sean Cain-Thomas Cain won in doubles for the Tigers.

The Elkins girls also won 7-0.

Taking wins in singles were Kelli Carr, Kayla Carr, Taylor Epperson and Taylor Gadd. Kelli Carr-Kayla Carr, Epperson-Kayla Gainer and Bradley Gutta and Caitlin Gutta all won in doubles.

Elkins host rival Philip Barbour on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for a Big 10 Conference tilt.
