Historic signing for Elkins High School’s Trippett
Elkins High School’s Kelsi Trippett signed a letter-of-intent on Thursday to play golf at West Virginia Wesleyan for next season.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to play at the next level,” Trippett said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play college golf.”
Trippett is the first female from Elkins High School to move on with a scholarship to play college golf at the next level.
Trippett was a four-year letter winner in golf for the Tigers. She also was a member of the EHS team that advanced to the state tourney this past fall.
“I think Kelsi is a very talented golfer, and if she continues to work at it, she will do well at Wesleyan,” Elkins coach Dave Baird said. “In the eight years I have been the coach, this is the first golfer I’ve had that has moved on to play college golf.”
Trippett also participated in basketball and softball for four years for the Tigers.
“I visited Wesleyan and I really liked the campus,” Trippett said. “It’s also close to home and that’s what I wanted.”
Trippett plans to major in Athletic Training and is the daughter of Jeri and Duane Trippett of Elkins.
