Surging Petersburg downs Keyser, 6-4

PETERSBURG – Brian George struck out seven batters in a complete-game effort to lead Petersburg past Keyser, 6-4, Tuesday in PVC action.

George allowed five hits in earning the win.

Josh Inskeep had an RBI?double for the Vikings, while Justin Smith and Doug Lambert each went 2-for-2.

Petersburg (7-1) will host Southern (Md.) at 5 p.m. today.

Pendleton County 6

FRANKLIN – Frankfort earned a 13-6 victory over Pendleton County Tuesday in non-conference action.

Colten Dorsey, Thane Cutter and Garrett Shoemaker each had two hits for the Falcons.

Shoemaker notched the win for the Falcons in two innings of relief.

Logan Raines had three hits, including a home run, while Jesse Lambert had a two-run single for the Wildcats (2-4).

Logan Cooper took the loss for the Pendleton County in two innings of relief on the hill.

Pendleton County will travel to Tygarts Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday for a Potomac Valley Conference matchup

Elkins sweeps Senior

FAIRMONT – The Elkins High School tennis team swept a pair of matches from Fairmont Senior Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.

Elkins won the boys match, 4-3.

Jacob Schoonover, Taylor Stump and Ryan Henson won in singles competition, while the team of Sean Cain and Tommy Cain won in doubles.

The Lady Tigers won the girls match, 7-0.

Kelli Carr, Kayla Carr, Taylor Epperson and Taylor Gadd won in singles competition, while Kelli Carr-Kayla Carr, Taylor Epperson-Kayla Gainer and Caitlin Gutta-Bradley Gutta won in doubles.

Elkins will travel to Lincoln at 4 p.m. today for a Big 10 match.
