Tigers earn Big 10 win at Lincoln
SHINNSTON – Colby Gainer drove in four runs to power Elkins past Lincoln 10-4 Wednesday night in Big 10 Conference action.
Gainer finished with four hits, including a homer for the Tigers.
Clayton Collett and Jake Wyatt chipped in with two hits each. Wyatt also had two RBIs.
Ryan Summerfield picked up the win for the Tigers in five innings of work.
“It was a solid effort tonight,” Elkins coach Adam Roth said. “When we limit our mistakes and our bats are going, we win games.
“Our boys did a nice job of coming together as a team.”
Elkins will host North Marion at 7 p.m. today for another league game.
East Hardy wins two
BAKER – East Hardy swept Paw Paw Wednesday in Potomac Valley Conference play.
The Cougars won the lidlifter 12-0 and rolled to a 13-0 victory in the second game.
Korey Foltz had a home run and two RBIs, while Wyatt Basye had an RBI double, Justin Basye a two-run single and Tyler Mongold an RBI single.
Justin Basye notched the win for East Hardy in two hitless innings. He fanned four.
Tyler Mongold picked up the win in the nightcap in two innings of work. He gave up one hit and struck out three.
Shawn Skovron, Wyatt Basye and Mongold all had two-run home runs for the Cougars in the win.
East Hardy will visit PVC rival Moorefield at 7 p.m. Friday for a key league contest.
