East Hardy beats MHS for sectional

BAKER – Brady Hinkle and Korey Foltz had three hits each to lead East Hardy past Moorefield 8-6 Thursday to win the Class A, Region II, Section 4 championship.

The Cougars will travel to Pendleton County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in regional semifinal action.

Hinkle had three RBIs and scored two runs, while Foltz had two runs scored for East Hardy.

Wyatt Basye had two hits and an RBI for the Cougars (22-10).

Foltz notched the win for East Hardy in three innings of relief. He gave up one run on one hit and walked two.

Cole Collier started on the mound, going the first four innings for East Hardy.

Tyler Mongold picked up a two-out save for the Cougars.

Jared Kite had three hits, while Lance Taylor had a grand slam for Moorefield.

Taylor took the loss for the Yellow Jackets (20-9) in two innings of work.

“I thought we played well defensively turning four doubleplays,” East Hardy coach Raymond Snapp said.

“I thought we got some key hits at the right time as well.”
