Elkins to host B-U; Bulldogs visit SH

Elkins will host area and Big 10 Conference rival Buckhannon-Upshur in Class AAA regional semifinal action at 6:30 p.m. today at Elkins Middle School.

The Tigers (9-14) lost both regular-season meetings against the Bucs.

“We’ll need to play error-free and hit the ball to have a chance to win,” Elkins coach Corrine Palmer said.

Michaela Lewis-Lambert is expected to take to the mound against B-U. The senior was the winning pitcher in last week’s win over Hampshire that gave Elkins its first-ever sectional title. She also had a key two-run single.

The Bucs have been idle since defeating Lewis County 11-3 last Wednesday to win its section.

Brooklyn Waddell drove in three runs in the win, while Megan Williams earned the victory on the mound.

Like Elkins, Tygarts Valley won its first softball sectional title by defeating Tucker County last week,’

The Bulldogs will travel to South Harrison at 6:30 p.m. today in Class A regionals.

Moorefield and Pendleton County, meanwhile, will battle in Franklin.
