Senator Club Golf Classic to be held on Saturday

The Senator Club Golf Classic, scheduled for Saturday at the Elks Country Club, offers chances to win cash, golf equipment or a new car, all the while supporting Davis & Elkins College athletic programs.

“The Golf Classic is a good time to get a lot of people together, both from campus and throughout the community, to support our programs,” Davis & Elkins College Athletic Director Ron Palmer said. “We and our student-athletes really appreciate that.”

Registration for the four-player scramble opens at 9 a.m., and a shot gun start is set for 10 a.m. After play, lunch will be served and prizes will be awarded.

The grand prize, a 2013 Ford Fusion from Elkins Fordland, will be awarded to the player who gets a hole-in-one on hole No. 13. Other prizes, including cash, Titleist golf balls, and golf clubs will be awarded for longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, tournament champion, runner-up, third place and high score team.

The fee per player, which includes lunch, is $30 for members of the Elks Club or $40 for non-members. For further information, call Laurie Chestnut at 304-637-1251 or email
