Former Pitt RB plans to transfer to WVU

MORGANTOWN – Former Pitt running back Rushel Shell will transfer to West Virginia.

Shell, a former prep standout at Hopewell, Pa., will have three years of eligibilty after setting out this season due to NCAA transfer regulations.

Current WVU assistant coaches Keith Patterson and Tony Gibson were on the staff at Pitt when Shell was being recruited. Shell also was looking at Ohio State, UCLA and Kentucky.

Shell rushed for 641 yards, including 157 in a win over Virginia Tech, last season as a true freshman.
