Bulldog golf team falls short
RICHWOOD – Despite losing to a solid Richwood squad on Thursday, Tygarts Valley coach Mitch Channell saw some good things from his team.
“This is the first time since I’ve been head coach that we’ve broken 400 as a team in an 18-hole match,” Channell said. “We had four guys under 100 at the same time, so things are looking up.
“It’s still early in the year, though.”
Richwood finished with a 342 at the Cherry Hill Course, compared to a 392 carded by the Bulldogs.
Richwood’s Braden Johnson was the low medalist with a score of 84. Tygarts Valley was led by Alex Hinzman, who shot a 97. Jared Wegman and Cody Grimmett followed with 98s, and Casey Martel turned in a 99.
Tygarts Valley will host East Hardy, Pocahontas County and Webster County Monday at The Raven.
