Lewis-Lambert signs with Point Park University
Elkins High School product Michaela Lewis-Lambert will continue her softball career at Point Park University located in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Lewis-Lambert was a second-team Class AAA all-state selection this past spring for the Tigers, striking out 181 batters in 132 innings.
She was a two-time all-conference player and helped lead Elkins to its first-ever sectional softball title this season.
“Everything just fell into place,” Lewis-Lambert said of her college decision. “The school had the major (intelligence and national security) I wanted and I liked the coaching staff.
“Plus the location of the school is pretty close to home.”
Lewis-Lambert, who also had offers from area Division II schools and a Division I college in Texas, lettered four times in softball and four times in basketball, and was a captain in both sports. She also hit .430 with 20 RBIs at the plate this season.
“I’m very proud of Michaela and wish her well in college,” Elkins coach Corrine Palmer said. “She’s a very hard worker and was a team leader for us during her career. I think she’ll do very well at the next level.”
Lewis-Lambert joins a pitching staff that has four of six arms returning from last year’s team. The Pioneers were 31-13 overall, 22-6 KIAC and took third place in the KIAC Tournament.
“Michaela Lewis-Lambert is a power pitcher, a hard thrower and she will add a lot to our pitching staff,” said Point Park head coach Michelle Coultas. “She will contribute to our team as a freshman.”
Lewis-Lambert is the daughter of Nancy Lewis and the late Stanley Lambert.
