WVU cagers to visit Tech in ESPN event
MORGANTOWN – Old Big East rivals West Virginia and Virginia Tech will meet on the hardwood as part of ESPN’s 24-hour Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.
The contest will be played at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va.
The Mountaineers claimed a 68-67 victory last season against the Hokies at the Coliseum. WVU holds a 47-29 lead in the series.
West Virginia and Bob Huggins are coming off a disappointing 13-19 campaign. It was the first losing season for Huggins as a head coach since his first year at Akron in 1985.
After a promising start last season, the Hokies stumbled to a 13-19 record, falling to North Carolina State in the first round of the ACC tournament. They were 4-14 in league games.

WOMEN?TO?HOST?RUTGERS: The West Virginia women’s soccer team, the preseason pick to win the Big 12 Conference, will host Rutgers at 1 p.m. today in an exhibition match at Dick Dlesk Stadium.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Mountaineers claimed the Big 12 Conference title in their first year in the league last season.
WVU returns three seniors from that squad, including leading scorer Frances Silva, who netted 11 goals in 2012.
Junior forward Kate Schwindel also returns after scoring nine goals last year.
