Battlers spike Bobcats

BUCKHANNON – Alderson Broaddus swept West Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14 ) Tuesday at the Rockefeller Center.

It was the third straight win for the Battlers, who improved to 6-7 on the season.

The Bobcats posted the first four points of the first match but AB battled back to win the set 25-16 and take the match in straight sets.

The Battlers hit a .207 percentage and recorded 32 kills. Ashley MacDonald tallied a team-high 11 kills, while Jayla McCrary and Victoria Morgan added six and five kills, respectively. Kayla Peterson provided the spark for the AB offense, tallying 25 of the team’s 33 assists.

Senior Jillian Brown added 10 digs, and Peterson and MacDonald chipped in eight apiece.

The Battlers will travel to Mason, Ohio, for the G-MAC Crossover Tournament on Oct. 4.

Wesleyan (2-11) will entertain Urbana at 7 p.m. Friday for a Mountain East Conference contest. The Bobcats will remain home at 11 a.m. Saturday to face Notre Dame (Ohio).
