Ranked teams Tucker, Colts set for battle

A battle of two ranked teams will take place at George Byrer Field when Tucker County visits Philip Barbour.

The Class A, 14th-rated Mountain Lions (3-1) are coming off their first loss of the season last week at Moorefield.

The Colts, rated 13th in Class AA, have won two straight games after beating Liberty last week on the road, despite losing quarterback Dillon Newman for the season in the previous game.

Tucker County’s offense struggled against Moorefield, giving up 11 sacks. Quarterback Seth Underwood was 7 of 12 passing for 75 yards and an interception. He also rushed for one touchdown. Zach Armstrong also found the end zone for the Mountain Lions.

PB’s Al Johnson caught eight passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, along with intercepting a pass that would have resulted in another score had a penalty not negated it.

Junior quarterback Tyler Titchnell, who replaced the injured Newman, completed 7 of 12 passes for 199 yards.

Senior Dylan Johnson has rushed for 471 yards through the first four games.
