Red Devils pull away from Bucs
TENNERTON – Class AAA, No. 6 Oak Hill improved to 5-0 with a 23-10 win over Buckhannon-Upshur Friday night at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.
The Bucs trailed 9-7 in the second quarter before Jarrell Green busted loose for a 71-yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 15-7 at intermission.
B-U responded with a 19-play drive to get within five when Trey Short drilled a field goal.
But Oak Hill put the game away in the fourth quarter, embarking on an 82-yard drive, capped off by Jalen Jones’ score to make it 23-10 after the successful two-point conversion.
Seth Cutright led the Bucs (2-3) 125 yards rushing and a touchdown in the first half.
Jones finished with 80 yards on the ground, while Green added 71 and Kadrin Goodman 44 and a touchdown.
B-U will remain home next Friday to face Lewis County for a Big 10 Conference encounter.
Meadow Bridge 26, Pendleton County 13
FRANKLIN – Class A, No. 8 Meadow Bridge claimed a 26-13 win over Pendleton County on Friday night.
Lane Fleisher had 82 yards rushing for the Wildcats (2-3), who trailed 8-7 at intermission. Luke Yokum completed 9 of 19 passes for 122 yards and ran for score, while Luke Propst had four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown reception.
