D&E booters fall to TNU, 2-1
Davis &?Elkins dropped a 2-1 decision to Trevecca Nazarene Saturday in G-MAC play at Harpertown.
The Senators’ Dan Savory notched the only marker of the first half in the 40th minute with a header off of a corner kick by James Pucci.
TNU’s Bruno De Moraes netted the equalizer in the 47th minute, and the Trojans’ Jeremiah Wright scored the game-winner with under six minutes left.
D&E will travel to Cedarville, Ohio, at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Kentucky Wesleyan 4, AB 2
PHILIPPI – The Alderson Broaddus men’s soccer team suffered a 4-2 loss to Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
Seniors Sat Dhaliwal and Jose Noriega scored goals for the Battlers (2-8, 1-2 G-MAC).
Chirstakis and Nikos Agisilaou scored all of the goals for the Panthers (3-6-2, 1-3 G-MAC).
The Battlers will travel to Cedarville, Ohio, at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
D&E 2, Trevecca Nazarene 2
Davis & Elkins and Trevecca Nazarene battled to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of play on Saturday.
TNU’s Anna Hoffman found the back of the net in the 29th minute to put the Trojans in front, 1-0. Taylor Morton placed a corner kick inside the post to tie the game at 1-1 in the 60th minute. Hoffman broke the deadlock in the 74th minute with her second marker of the day. Ashley Muscat promptly tied the game at 2-all just three minutes later.
D&E will continue G-MAC play at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Cedarville, Ohio.
AB 3, Kentucky Wesleyan 1
PHILIPPI – The Alderson Broaddus women’s soccer team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan, 3-1, Saturday in G-MAC play.
Brooke Hunsaker, Brittany Minor and Sofia Diaz all tallied goals for the Battlers in the first half of the game. Valerie Barlow led ABU with two assists.
Katlyn Duke led the Panthers with three shots and a goal.
The Battlers will visit Ursuline College at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
D&E splits games
The Davis & Elkins volleyball team earned its inaugural G-MAC victory, 3-0 (25-16, 25-7, 25-12) over Central State, before falling to Cedarville, 3-0 (29-27, 25-12, 25-13) on Saturday.
Alexis Mourier finished with a team-best seven kills against the Marauders. Alicia Stokes registered 13 assists, while Kelsey Richards recorded 10 digs.
Mourier led the way with seven kills against CU. Stokes and Haylee Murray each recorded 12 assists, while Richards tallied eight digs.
D&E will travel to Ohio Valley at 7 p.m. on Friday.
AB earns win over CSU
The Alderson Broaddus women’s volleyball team fell to Cedarville University 3-0 (17-25, 17-25, 18-25) and made quick work of Central State University 3-0 (25-4, 25-8, 25-15) in the second match of the afternoon Saturday at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Crossover..
The Battlers played 15 different players against CSU. Samantha Bailey notched a team-high nine kills and Aerial Munson had 10 assists. Lauren Hogan and Ambyr George combined for 13 digs.
AB will visit Tiffin University on Tuesday.
High School boys’ soccer
B-U 2, Washington 1
TENNERTON?- Buckhannon- Upshur scored two goals in the second half Saturday to defeat Washington, 2-1, in nonconference play.
The Bucs improved to 14-1 on the season and are currently ranked No. 2 in Class AAA.
Matt McCoy scored the first goal for B-U in the 48th minute on a penalty kick.
Marty Elliott finished off the scoring at the 60th minute on an assist from Dylan Hall.
The Bucs will travel to Liberty Harrison at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a Big 10 Conference contest.
