D&E downs Eagles

ASHLAND, Ohio -Davis &?Elkins finished non-conference play with a 2-1 win over Ashland Wednesday in women’s soccer action.

Laia Margenat Dordas scored a pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes to give the Senators a 2-0 lead. The Eagles’ Kelly Kripinsky scored just before the intermission to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the D&E defense secured the victory with a strong second half.

Ashland finished with 19 shots to just seven for the Senators, including nine on goal to just four. Ashley Winkelspecht registered eight saves for D&E.

The Senators will return home at noon on Saturday to battle G-MAC rival Alderson Broaddus.

Wesleyan 1

Notre Dame (Ohio) 0

BUCKHANNON – Wesleyan knocked off Mountain East Conference leader Notre Dame (Ohio) 1-0 on Wednesday.

Rachel Ransom scored the game’s lone goal in the 24th minute for the Bobcats, who held a 11-8 advantage on shots on goal.

Lauren Duncan tended net for the winners.

Wesleyan (8-4-1, 7-2-1 MEC) will travel to Urbana at 1 p.m. on Saturday for another league game.
