Upshur baseball team defeats Lewis

The Upshur County fall baseball team recently claimed a 12-7 win over Lewis County.

Robert Triplett knocked in three runs for Upshur County, singling in the second and fourth innings.

Lewis County led 1-0 before Upshur County struck for three runs in the bottom of the first on two errors and a groundout by Trey Leigh.

Upshur County added five more runs in the bottom of the second. William McCauley scored the first run, followed by Triplett’s two-run single that plated Adam Thomas and Austin Russell.

After Lewis County cut the deficit to 8-4, Upshur County tacked on four more runs in the fourth. Russell singled in Isaac Lane and Evan Coffman to start the rally.

That was followed by Triplett’s single that plated Thomas and Russell to make it a four-run game.

Lewis County added three runs in the fifth but came no closer.
