Bobcats best Falcons in OT
FAIRMONT – Jeremy Musselman threw for three scores and ran for another to lead Wesleyan to a 40-37 overtime win over Fairmont State Thursday night in MEC action at Duvall-Rosier Field..
After the Bobcats recovered a fumble on?the Falcons’ first possession of OT, Kasper Bernild booted a 41-yard field goal to give Wesleyan the victory.
Musselman had touchdown passes to Connor Arlia, LaVaughn Hughes and Zach Schademan in the first half for the Bobcats, who trailed 24-23 at the intermission.
Wesleyan then took a 37-27 lead in the second half on touchdown runs by Musselman and Michael Anderson, who finished with 224 yards rushing.
Fairmont State answered with a field goal and a 25-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Hibbs to Daniel Marc-Sears with 54 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Daniel Monroe rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Falcons (2-6, 1-6 MEC).
Hibbs completed 23 of 31 passes for 268 yards, while Nick Alvaro collected 10 passes for 122 yards.
Musselman was 17 of 30 passing for 234 yards. Hughes had seven catches for 95 yards and Schademan four grabs for 70 yards.
Wesleyan (4-5, 4-4) will entertain MEC foe Urbana on Nov. 9 for its next contest.
Fairmont State will visit Charleston on the same day.
