PB spikers fall to Oak Glen in state semifinals

CHARLESTON – The Philip Barbour volleyball team lost to Oak Glen Friday night in the semifinals of the state tournament at the Civic Center.

The Colts had advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 win over Independence earlier in the day before falling to Oak Glen, 3-1.

Oak Glen will seek its third straight state title today against either Herbert Hoover or Robert C. Byrd.

East Hardy also lost in the Class A semifinals to Tyler Consolidated, 3-1. The Cougars advanced with a 3-0 decision over Man in their first game.

Pendleton County was eliminated by Greater Beckley Christian in its first match by a score of 3-1.

Tyler Consolidated will face Wirt County for the Class A championship, while Musselman and Greenbrier East will battle for the Class AAA crown at 9:30 a.m.

The Class AAA title game will start today’s championship round, followed by Class A and Class AA.
