Bulldogs hold off Pendleton

FRANKLIN?- Tygarts Valley withstood a furious rally by Pendleton County to claim a 54-53 win Friday night in Potomac Valley Conference action.

The Bulldogs (2-0) led 26-13 at the intermission before the Wildcats came alive in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 23-12 to cut the lead to 38-36 entering the final quarter.

Pendleton County then took the lead in the fourth before the Bulldogs hit a pair of free throws inside of 20 seconds remaining to take a 54-53 edge.

“We lost a big lead but did a good job defensively on their last possession,” Tygarts Valley coach Mike DiPasquale said. “Emily Pingley really stepped up on defense at the end.”

The Wildcats had a chance at the end but missed a shot and Tygarts Valley grabbed the rebound to earn the victory.

Paige Pritt had 17 points and six rebounds, while Kelsey Arbogast added 14 points and Pingley nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Kaylee Edwards had 19 points and Hillary Ord 12 for Pendleton County (1-1).

Tygarts Valley will host Harman at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday for another PVC contest.

Pendleton County will travel to PVC rival Moorefield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
