Deserving honor

MILL CREEK – Emily Pingley, a senior at Tygarts Valley High School, will participate in the North-South All-Star Volleyball Classic to be held this weekend.

Pingley played volleyball at Tygarts Valley all four of her high school years. She will be an outside hitter for the Class AA-A North team, which will be coached by Richard and Tracy Summers of Tyler Consolidated, and Heather Halfin of Philip Barbour.

Pingley is the first female athlete in Tygarts Valley High School history to be selected for the game, and only the third athlete ever from the school to compete in North-South competition in any sports.

“Emily was our speaking captain on the volleyball team all year,” Bulldog coach Kayla White said. “She is vocal on the court and has a very competitive attitude. She was our highest scorer of the season and led our team in kills.

“She is a very diverse young lady and is successful on and off the court. We are extremely proud of all of her accomplishments.”

In addition to being a volleyball captain and letterman, Pingley also is a captain and letterman in basketball.

Off the court, she is a TVHS Scholar Athlete and is on the Honor Roll with a 3.5 GPA. She is also a member of the 4-H Club and the Future Business Leaders of America, to go along with being active in student government and was a homecoming princess.

The North-South All-Star Volleyball Classic is the last event on the state volleyball calendar. It brings the
