Lady Senators get loss

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Stillman turned 17 offensive rebounds into 17 points to down Davis & Elkins, 70-66 on Saturday.

Ashley Bowles led the Senators with 16 points. Sharmaine Baker chipped in with 13 points and Stephanie Wooten added 10 points.

Angel Mitchell (16), Samantha Thomas (13) and Ashante Brown (10) all reached double figures for the Tigers.

Stillman held a 54-48 advantage on the glass.

The Tigers opened the game with an 8-2 sprint. D&E responded with a 19-5 surge-ignited by a Wooten three-to go in front, 21-13.

Stillman scored the contest’s next seven points, but the Senators were able to take a 31-26 lead to the break.

Stillman broke a 51-51 tie with a 12-1 blitz, opening up a 63-52 advantage. Back-to-back threes from Baker and Endi Frazier sparked a 10-0 jolt to trim the deficit to one at 63-62.

The Tigers sealed the 70-66 win at the free throw line.

Davis & Elkins travels to Marshall next Saturday at 1 p.m.
